After looking closely first-hand at the situation at present, the advantages of being in China as oppose to outside are immense. Due to the Covid-19 changes sometimes happening daily. Most schools will only accept teachers based within their shores. As a result, schools will take teaching professionals with less experience.

Preferences are based on the following tier system:
1st Tier – China
2nd Tier – Asia
3rd Tier – UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia & Canada
4th Tier – US & South Africa.
Major players within the worldwide educational sector are only looking for personnel in China. Why? The reason for this is many schools have already had their ‘fingers burnt’ recruiting from outside China for the 2021-22 school year. The Chinese government decided to lock the country down to ensure no virus. Due to China’s ageing population, they needed to protect the old and vulnerable whilst major breakdowns worldwide.
Why is this a good time to invest in your career?
If you are based in China, you have a BIG advantage over the competition straight away. Schools recruited teachers across native countries with a lead time of around 10 months for 2021-22 (see paragraph two). They don’t want the same issues as they had last school year. Plus, many teachers in senior positions (who tend to be older) and returning home to spend time with their elderly parents.
For this reason, you really can IGNITE your career.
There are plenty of examples recently where teachers without completed PGCE’s (in progress) are securing new positions with top five Hurun listed international schools here in Beijing, and across China, as a whole.
This is the best time for a teacher (with a commitment to personal development) to secure leadership roles and fulfil their potential.
