An Interview with Javier our Teacher of the Month –
Interview questions were answered by Javier – a kindergarten teacher with a Masters in Education over here in Beijing, China. About to embark on a new role as a kindergarten teacher at a highly regarded International School here in Beijing.
- Why did you decide to teach in China?
I have always been interested in Chinese culture and its language. Coming here for teaching was a good opportunity to develop myself personally and professionally.
- What advice would you give someone looking to start their teaching journey here in China?
Taking the first step to moving out to a different country is a daunting step but you can do it! It just takes a bit of courage; support; some money, and finally, an element of luck.
- Who is your biggest inspiration within the teaching community?
That’s a Tough question. I have found inspiration in many people and many places throughout my teaching career at different times. The biggest one? I would have to say one of my Montessori mentors, of whom, turned me into the teacher I am today.
- How have you found the experience of dealing with recruiters over here in China?
China is an ultra-competitive environment. If you find an agency or a recruiter that has an established reputation, chances are, you are dealing with a professional and knowledgeable team of people.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Still here, probably at an even bigger, better, and even more recognizable international school. You will also probably find me at a southeast Asian beach from time to time sipping on a coconut.
