An insight into an English teacher’s journey – June
An insight into an English teacher’s journey…
Interview questions were answered by Hal – an English teacher over here in Beijing, China. About to embark on a new role as a PE teacher at a highly regarded Chinese International School here in Beijing. Following his passion in life of keeping fit and playing/teaching sports.
1) Why did you decide to teach in China?
– I wanted to travel before settling down at home and saw opportunities in different Asian countries, but after reading what other ex-pats had said I decided China seems the best place.
2) What advice would you give someone looking to start their teaching journey here in China?
– Don’t be shy and just come, the lifestyle for foreigners is great, just try to learn some basic language before you arrive.
3) Who is your biggest inspiration within the teaching community?
– Probably my P.E teacher from secondary school, he made teaching look fun and easy and is a big reason I chose to be a P.E teacher.
4) How have you found the experience of dealing with recruiters over here in China?
– Generally, very good, they are usually very fast and work to get you the best job possible for your requirements.
5) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
– Probably still teaching in China
