Introduction:
We are the only fully American-owned and run summer camp program in China. Started by two Americans from Chicago & Houston who are also at camp during summer with you, it began as just an idea out of a Beijing apartment. We’re now a thriving company of 40+ full-time staff and now have four campsites running all year round. Our summer program is the beating heart of our organisation and what brings counsellors & campers back year after year. Similar to any CC USA, Camp America J-1 work visa summer program one would see at fairs in the UK, Australia or elsewhere. You know what to expect with our summer experience! Sports, adventure courses, campfires, the great outdoors with everlasting friendships made!
Working time:
This is a 100% traditional American summer camp program. This is a live-in (resident) program; nearly all staff will live with campers acting as their bunk counsellors. This means that we will be responsible for campers’ safety throughout the day. You are not alone! Staff are responsible for getting campers up, ready for bed, and generally taking care of them.
Duties:
Counsellors will be responsible for campers’ well-being and ensuring they are safe as they move from one activity to the next.
Counsellors are expected to participate in the activities with campers to enable us to create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere.
Counsellors are expected to help campers with their daily lives, reminding them to shower or brush their teeth.
Our Speciality Counsellors will also be responsible for leading activities such as archery, soccer, woodworking, arts, drama, and so on, depending on their abilities. Lead counsellors will lead activities they are capable of leading, while throughout the day, most staff will be taking children to and from activities and getting involved. We welcome this with open arms if you want to create a new activity!
Time off:
Breaks are given during the day and can be arranged within your cabin units to ensure cover.
One day off per week; the exact time depends on the camp location. Camp can sometimes provide transport to the city or fun activities during your time off; camp staff are expected to self-organize free time.
Roles Available:
Generalist Counsellor – Most common role at camp – living with your group of campers (with a co-counsellor), supervising children and taking them to and from activities – generalists can also lead activities, perhaps one week doing one, and another doing another.
A Speciality Counselor – Live with campers’ role (with a co-counsellor) yet specialist in a specific activity area (e.g. football/soccer, rugby, performing arts, visual arts, magic, woodwork, archery, etc.)
Leadership Team (Management) – These positions are usually coveted by returning staff, yet often we will find new talent with fantastic leadership qualities every year – These positions are higher-paid, and we strive to have them not living with children. This is not guaranteed. Many times you will also be in a bunk with children. It’s a camp!

Must be well-rounded with a love for the great outdoors, sports or relevant fields
Knowledge of and or experience working with youth in elementary and middle school
