Once you’ve found the type of job, you’re searching for (see below for advice when interviewing). You are about to embark on your NEW journey. Come to China and teach!

Firstly, you must know where to get teaching materials. A VPN is a must, and I suggest you download it before leaving your own country. I personally recommend Cisco AnyConnect VPN.

Here is a list of useful websites to support your teaching with materials (printable) and general information:
Starfall.com
OnlymyEnglish.com
Docin.com
Superteacherworksheets.com
Supersimplelearning.com
Liveworksheets.com
Busyteacher.org
Learnenglishteens.Britishcouncil.org
Engvid.com

Finally, what Ignite will provide you to support you on your way:
A USB with teaching materials to help support you when teaching within the following sectors:
– Kindergarten
– Primary
– Secondary
– Adult Education
– IELTS
– Universities
– Training Centres

One final piece of advice: Whether you are working in a university/training centre/school/kindergarten?
Always have plenty of materials up your sleeve. You may be asked to provide a class/demo/presentation at very short notice. This is not uncommon and sometimes acts as a test of how versatile/adaptable you are to changes in your daily schedule.

China really appreciates it if you have a ‘can-do’ attitude from ALL their teachers. Think about it: Teachers work in the service industry, and a first impression is really important, especially when communicating with parents. Appearance over here is very old school: Schools like; smartly dressed; short hair & clean-shaven (men); no piecing and/or tattoos on show. Ladies should wear little make-up too. Parents also take a keen on how teachers look. This can be the difference between finding the right job instead of ANY job.

Remember, the most important thing is to have FUN! When you’re having fun, your students are having fun and learning too.
